The Yorkshire Flower Club was founded in 1955 and drew its membership from all over the Yorkshire area. We celebrated our 65th anniversary (two years late) in 2022 with a wonderful lunch followed by a talk by Maria Glot on the history of Titus Salt and Saltaire.
The programme consists mainly of demonstrations from a wide range of people, some very modern, some more traditional. We hold two practices per year which are judged by Area and National judges and in addition to this have a workshop in August which is extra item to our programme. We also visit interesting gardens once a year and in 2023, the visit was to Wynyard Hall at Stockton-on-Tees, in 2022 it was to Gresgarth Hall, near Lancaster. Changing the meeting day to Fridays from Wednesdays has proved very successful and our membership has increased possibly because of this. Visitors are very welcome to come and join us at our meetings.
Above are some pictures taken on The Yorkshire Flower Club's first meeting after reopening on 18th August. We had a tea party, tea and cakes, and then a talk on creating a garden from scratch by Martin Walker which was fascinating.
