Viking Flower Club was founded in 1975 by Ida Smith who had recently moved from Gilford. Missing the flower club where she had been an active member, she called a meeting in the Village Hall with her neighbour Polly Brinklow acting as secretary it was attended by ladies who expressed interest in forming the club.
The name Viking was chosen to be used, rather than Stamford Bridge to represent the battle of 1066. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month 7.30pm. in the Village Hall 4 Low Catton Road. YO41 1DQ
