Demonstrators

Picture
The North East Area Demonstrators Representative is Sue Spencer. Sue has truly enjoyed being an Area Demonstrator and was more than happy to accept her appointment in November 2020 to become the Area Demonstrators Representative. In this role Sue attended the Demonstrators representatives meeting at NAFAS headquarters (via Zoom), passing on information from the national committee to all our Demonstrator and reporting to Area Council.

The North East Area Deputy Demonstrators Representative is Catherine Gledhill.
PERSONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE FOR DEMONSTRATORS
It has been brought to our attention that some Clubs elsewhere are refusing to book Demonstrators, Speakers, Judges & Teachers who do not have personal Public Liability Insurance.  It is NOT the North East Area’s intention to advise our Clubs to do this but we do recommend that all people giving presentations should have their own Public Liability Insurance. If an accident happens which is caused by the presenter (a stem cut by a demonstrator, goes into the eye of a member of the audience or someone trips on an unsecured cable to a laptop) the Hall and Club insurers’ may refuse to cover this and then the presenter would potentially be personally liable for all costs if a claim is made.
DEMONSTRATORS REFRESHER DAY 5 MARCH 2022
We hold Demonstrators refresher days every 18 months. It is always a good time to catch up with all our Demonstrators, exchanging  ideas, learning new skills and supporting each other. The March 2022 Refresher day was no exception - I am sure I speak for everyone when I say it was such a happy day, catching up with friends not seen for the past two years.
Janet Hayton and Rita Braithwaite worked hard to give us lots of help, instruction and guidance.  We all shared our thoughts on how things are moving forward and how we can continue to support each other.
We are always looking to encourage members to join the happy band of Demonstrators and Speakers, so please speak to us.  It is a great way of meeting fellow members whilst enjoying doing something you love.
All contact details can be found on line or in the information books

TRAINING TO BECOME A DEMONSTRATOR
Being a Demonstrator is very rewarding. We get to meet NAFAS members and friends in their own clubs, in a happy and friendly atmosphere. Every club works in a slightly different way, so we have to be able to adapt.
If anyone is interested in becoming a demonstrator then please contact me: [email protected]. I will then be able to go through the whole procedure  -  training, taking your test, elements and principles of design and plant identification. Please do not be put off by that, you will enjoy it.
