Knaresborough Flower Club (North East Area) celebrated their 50th Anniversary on June 19th 2024 with a visit to Allerton Castle. Honoured guests were Sheila Drybrough (North East Area Chair), Ann Simpson (North East Area Secretary) and Avril McDonald (Founder Member) together with 23 members. Delicious cake (see below) - made by our Chair Lesley Dalton - was enjoyed by all and accompanied by a hot beverage and non-alcoholic bubbles. We all dressed to impress, including wearing hats and fascinators, which was a sight to behold! The wonderful afternoon culminated with a tour of the castle conducted by a riveting guide.
Pictured on the afternoon (L-R) Avril McDonald (Founder Member), Jean Locke (Club President), Lesley Dalton (Club Chair), Sheila Drybrough (Area Chair), Ann Simpson (Area Secretary.
Below: A team of 6 have planned and worked on the design for the flowers round the Market Cross in Knaresborough. We put it there on May 4th ready for the Coronation on the 6th May.
A lot of the public watching made some very complimentary comments. It has taken over 100 hours to execute and install and we're thrilled with the result.

Knaresborough are pleased to do the flowers every year for the Country Landowners hospitality tent at the Great Yorkshire show. The team of 7 did 4 pedestals, 18 small table vases. 2 tray arrangements and 2 large floor arrangements. They are always very vocal in their appreciation and provided the floral artistes with a lovely lunch.
Pictured here are the arrangers; back row L to R: Julie Ward, Cath Oldfield, Ann Ormondroyd, Lesley Dalton, Chris Madigan front row (kneeling) L-R: Trish Hesford and Lynn Ogden.
These lovely arrangements were created by Knaresborough to go on display in local shops to advertise the Club.
