Acomb Flower Guild is a flower arranging club with a long history. It was founded in 1968 and has been meeting ever since; promoting friendship through a love of flowers.
We meet at 7.15pm on the first Tuesday of every month (except January & August), at Acomb Parish Church Hall on the outskirts of York. The hall has step free access and a disabled parking space. Free, unlimited parking is available next to Morrisons supermarket, Acomb, which is a 2 minute walk away. The number 1 bus from central York stops right outside. Our meetings are a great way of socialising as well as learning skills in floral art through our programme of workshops, demonstrations and practice nights. Refreshments are served and we have a shop selling flower arranging materials and accessories. There is a raffle at each club night and we take the opportunity to fundraise for a different chosen charity each year. We have a monthly newsletter and enjoy trips and meals out too. Our members regularly arrange flowers in York Minster and have the opportunity to get involved in local and national events such as Harrogate Flower Shows, NAFAS National Show and Westminster Abbey. No experience is necessary and we welcome ad hoc visitors as well as new members to any of our meetings. We currently have a membership offer for students.
